Elise is a versatile litigator and counselor whose practice spans state tax controversy, complex commercial litigation, antitrust, and large-scale ediscovery. She represents clients in high stakes matters across a range of industries, including hospitality, entertainment, energy, and manufacturing. Elise has particular experience defending clients against alleged violations of the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA) and in antitrust and competition matters. Elise also manages large-scale ESI collections and productions and advises on ediscovery portfolio management, data governance, and litigation readiness.
Elise also maintains an active state and local tax controversy practice, advising and representing clients in disputes with state revenue departments throughout the country. Her experience includes audits and appeals involving corporate income, property, sales and use tax, gross receipts, franchise taxes, and unclaimed property matters. She works closely with clients to develop audit strategies, escalates matters strategically and, when necessary, litigates in state courts and administrative bodies across the country.
Client Work
- Successfully represented investors in business torts dispute, resulting in a favorable settlement for the client.
- Successfully first-chaired arbitrations in multiple matters involving breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty claims.
- Briefed and argued a successful summary judgment motion in a declaratory judgment action on a shareholder agreement, resulting in a favorable settlement for the client.
- Assisted at trial in defense of accounting malpractice action.
